In UP, Online Scholarship Registration Leaves Students in Lurch

LUCKNOW: Students hoping to benefit from the state government’s post-matric scholarships and fee reimbursement (for higher education) are left in the lurch after technical snags marred the functioning of the online server.

Launched for the first time, the online registration process has been non-functional since the past three days.

This year, the department of social welfare department has introduced an online scholarship management system for post-matric and fee reimbursement process. Beneficiaries from all categories, SC/ST, OBC and general, fulfilling the government’s eligibility criteria for availing zero fee are supposed to register online. However, registrants are facing problem in submission of the application form. The last date for registration is October 31.

“Sometime the session expires while entering details of the income certificate, on the other, the account shows logged out while filling up the bank details. After multiple efforts also, the form submission isn’t successful,” said a student.

The online registration process is divided into three sections. First is the student section, second is the institution section and third is the government segment. In the first section, beneficiaries need to register themselves by filling up the mandatory information like their name, father’s name, institution’s name, category (SC/ST, OBC, general), birth date, and gender, passing year for high school, contact details and a password. After registration, the next step is to fill up the application form which requires the registration number, date of birth, high school board’s name, roll number and year of passing and the password (entered by the student at the time of registration). If any student has entered wrong information, s/he will be given a chance to make changes. After final submission, beneficiaries are asked to upload a photo. The student then has to take a printout of the filled application form to be submitted in the college. The college will in return give a receipt to the students.

Though there is a flowchart explaining the process of applying but there is no helpline to assist the students. Officials said that the slow server is hitting the online registration process. Things should be on track soon, said officials.
